Vasu is a postdoctoral researcher at WCEL, currently researching the local and global impacts of genetically modified (GM) crop adoption of agricultural expansion and deforestation. She is an applied economist, with a strong background and research interests in Environmental Economics, particularly non-market valuation using both revealed and stated preference methods.
She received her PhD in June 2021 under the supervision of Dr. Corey Lang at the University of Rhode Island in the Environmental and Natural Resource Economics department. In her dissertation, she investigates the preferences for solar energy and solar siting decisions in the states of Rhode Island (RI) and Massachusetts (MA).
